Creative Wedding Design- DIY

Recently, as I was perusing the internet for wedding ideas I came across this gem of an idea. It is on the weddingchannel.com’s website. Instead of a traditional cake stand the bride decided to take on a little DIY and add a little something extra. Click on the link below to see the great pics. She took a (wide and short) round vase and filled it with hydrangeas and then placed a square piece of (flat) glass on the top. As a finishing touch she put a few more hydrangeas on the upside of the flat piece of glass. Voila! Most of her supplies came from Home Depot and/or Lowe’s. Recently I saw this video on youtube. It is wonderful, it is by far the most creative, engaging and fun wedding processional I have ever seen. While watching it I laughed until I cried. Seeing a couple that is so happy, doesn’t take their ceremony too seriously and is ready to have a good time is such a rare opportunity. Better than a Guest book: A Wishing Jar

Tired of the status quo wedding details? One detail you can innovate is the standard guest book.Traditional bound books are easy but not very exciting. Want a stylish alternative for remembering who attened your wedding? A glass cylinder, large vase or any other container can be turned into a wishing jar. You’ll need plenty of stationary (personalized with your names or monogram) and pens available. When guests arrive they can write a personal message and deposit their wishes. After the wedding you can insert the wishes into a traditional photo book, if you opt for disposable cameras on the table or have any other means of amateur photos for the album pairing the wishes with the photos makes for a wonderful keepsake. This can make a fun project for after the wedding when you’ll want to reminesce about all the wonderful moments of your wedding day.

Submerged Calla Lilly centerpieces

These submerged Calla lillies are ideal centerpieces. The tall, long flowers provide height for the centerpieces, which is needed for large round tables. Having high centerpieces draws the eyes up, and creates depth for the simple design. In addition to their beauty using a single flower (or three in this case) per table allows you to really trim down your costs. Floral centerpieces can get pretty pricey, so this is a nice alternative for brides that want a floral feel without a hefty pricetag. The floating candles at the top are also a nice touch. After seeing so many brides and grooms take home hundreds of dollars worth of coasters, travel candles, CDs and a million other things that have monograms on them, I was really excited when I heard about this idea. One couple decided to give away one scratch off lottery ticket to each guest, with a sign posted nearby that they were “lucky” to have so many special people in their lives. This is a great idea for several reasons; it is creative and different, it is inexpensive, and anyone that wins cash will never forget what you gave out as wedding favors. And at the end of the night you won’t be taking home tons of hershey’s kisses in mini-(chinese) take out boxes with a monogram on top. Lottery Tickets are a memorable, affordable and exciting way to send your guests home, and any left over are sure to be used!
