Wedding flowers to dye for….
At one of my recent wedding the florist dyed the orchids a deep indigo color. It gave the flowers a really exotic look, they almost appeared to glow. The dying technique used was to put the dye into water and allow the stems to drink up the color. The effect caused was a very natural look of color variation, the center of the flower was a light blue and then gradually increased to a deep purple at the edges of the petals. The picture attached doesn’t really do it justice. For any bride looking for a unique and eye catching effect this is a great idea to consider.
Wedding Music Ideas
For every bride out there that wants help selecting tunes for her wedding and reception, I would like to make a recommendation: Check out www.pandora.com! This website is amazing, part of the music genome project, it was created in 2000 by a group of music loving technologists. Pandora allows you to create your own music stations and then customize your preferences. How you ask? After you select a genre or artist you love the site plays one song of that type, then starts offering another, similar but slightly different musical selection. You give each song a thumbs up or a thumbs down, this is how the site learns your personal preferences and thus customizes radio station just for you. This a great tool if you have a general idea of what you want to hear, but need a little help with the details. And don’t just use this for weddings, I listen to my stations on pandora daily at my computer while I work, you can even have it streamed to your iphone!
New Wedding Venue in Atlanta: Hotel Palomar

- Hotel Palomar
Last week I had the opportunity to tour one of Atlanta’s newest and most posh wedding venues: Hotel Palomar. Kelly Treadway (formerly of Divine Events Catering & Novarre Events) hosted Lynn Lilly (of blackout productions, www.blackoutpromotions.com) & myself for wine hour at the beautiful, unique space. Of all of their meeting spaces my favorite was the casual yet alluring terrace, AltoRex. This open-air rooftop lounge offers comfortable terrace seating or the private cabanas, a bustling bar scene and glowing fire pits, all with the glittering Atlanta skyline as the backdrop. This venue is ideal for the bride or host that wants a trendy & chic event that that makes a distinct and memorable impression on their guests. http://www.hotelpalomar-atlantamidtown.com/
Wedding guestbook: a recipe for success!

- Recipe Guestbook
At one of my recent weddings the bride and groom opted to use a recipe book in lieu of a traditional guest book. What an innovative and unique touch. Rather than having a book that they would likely look at once and then put away, by using the recipe book they will have the opportunity to randomly stumble upon the well wishing and congratulations of their wedding guests anytime they use it to cook. I was and continue to be really impressed with this idea.
Wedding Catastropy
While surfing you tube (I know, it’s addictive) I found this clip. This is quite possibly the most random, surprising, and unfortunate thing I have ever seen happen during a wedding ceremony. Check this out. Your jaw will practically hit the floor, I know mine almost did! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ga-ULeG09QY
Wedding Photos in Sepia

Kevin and Abby Waller
In this photo from one of my recent weddings Zach Porter (www.zachporter.com) captured the bride and groom outdoors, in front of the lake. He used the Sepia tone to give the picture an antique and classy look. I love this pic, it looks like it could be from the early 20th century, very unique and striking!
Daily Candy Weddings
Recently I came across the Daily Candy’s wedding page. It’s filled with great tips and ideas. Check it out: http://www.dailycandy.com/weddings/
Buttons

- Buttons
At one of my recent weddings the florist added “buttons” to the bases of the bridesmaids’ bouquets. This simple touch of a circle of mums at the base of the bouquet added a little panache to the overall look of the flowers. Sometimes it’s the simple details that create the biggest impressions.
The Ferrells
This Saturday I coordinated the wedding of Anna Jones and Joe Ferrell at Flat Creek Country Club in Peachtree city, GA. It was a beautiful and joyous occasion. The picture attached shows the ceremony location before guests arrived, we couldn’t have asked for better weather!
